Getting started

What is included for free?

Organise up to three active deadlines using the included categories. Completed deadlines do not count toward that limit. Pro unlocks unlimited active deadlines and editable categories. Plans and eligible offers are shown in the app before purchase.

Where can I download the app?

Get Deadline Desk from the App Store for iPhone/iPad and Mac, Microsoft Store for Windows, or Google Play’s Android beta programme. The latest Android 2.3 beta includes Phone, Google and Microsoft calendar imports. Follow the download links or the two-step Android guide.

Do I need a Deadline Desk account?

No. Local planning, Apple iCloud sync and buying Pro do not require a separate Deadline Desk account. Optional account sync connects Windows with iPhone/iPad and Android Beta. Sign in on Windows using your email code, then connect your phone by scanning and approving its QR. Mac uses private iCloud sync, not the Windows account connection.

Can I use the app offline?

Yes. Add, edit and complete tasks saved on your device while offline. With account sync set up, changes can upload when you reconnect and open the app. Pro may need an occasional online check to refresh purchase verification.

Calendar import

Which calendars can I import?

iPhone/iPad and Mac: Apple Calendar or Microsoft Calendar; Google calendars already added to Apple Calendar are included there. Windows: Google Calendar or Microsoft Calendar. Android Beta 2.3: Phone Calendar, Google Calendar or Microsoft Calendar. Preview the events, choose their categories and add them as tasks. Import creates a one-time copy and leaves the original calendar unchanged. See the calendar guide.

Can I import a work or school calendar?

Microsoft Calendar supports compatible Microsoft-hosted personal, work and school accounts. Your organisation may require administrator approval or block access. An email account merely shown in the Outlook app is not necessarily a Microsoft-hosted calendar. If your organisation permits it, Apple Calendar can also expose calendars already added to your Apple device.

Does calendar import read my emails?

No. Calendar import reads calendar information, not your mailbox. You choose the events to preview and add. Their task copies follow your chosen sync and backup settings. Read the calendar privacy details.

Sync, backups & your data

Is iCloud the same as Connect Your Devices?

No. Private iCloud sync connects Apple devices using the same Apple Account. Deadline Desk account sync connects compatible Windows, Android and iPhone/iPad editions after review and consent. It does not require the same Apple Account and does not sign other devices in automatically. Turning off one service does not turn off the other.

Does scanning the QR upload my tasks or share Pro?

No. Compare the number and approve on Windows first. Then review the tasks/categories and confirm backup and sync. Purchase sharing is a separate optional step. QR codes expire after five minutes and cannot be reused; generate another if needed.

How quickly do changes reach another device?

Connected apps send local changes and receive account updates while open. Open both apps online for the quickest update, or use the refresh button to check now. The last-sync status helps you see progress; background activity depends on your device.

How does the app handle different edits?

Most one-sided changes merge automatically. When connected devices make different edits to the same information, a review lets you compare the copies and choose what to keep—including edits versus deletions. This helps you stay in control of your tasks.

Where are my backups stored?

Automatic recovery copies are saved locally. iPhone, iPad and Mac can also save copies in iCloud Drive when enabled; this is separate from normal iCloud task sync. Their automatic history keeps 40 recent snapshots plus the first from each of the ten most recent active backup days, counting overlaps once. Android copies stay inside app storage, not Google Drive; Windows copies stay on that computer. Export important backups somewhere separate.

Does a task backup restore Pro or my sign-in?

No. Backups contain task/category content, not purchase entitlement or sign-in credentials. Read the restore preview: restoring can bring back deleted items and send data to connected devices. Restore purchases separately through Apple, Google Play or Windows Stripe recovery.

Will signing out or deleting my account remove local tasks?

Signing out stops account sync and removes account-provided Pro, but keeps local task copies. Deleting an account removes its cloud sync account/data and disconnects other devices when detected online. Local tasks, private iCloud data and backup files may remain. It does not cancel subscriptions. Read the deletion instructions.

Do you show advertising or track my activity?

No advertising or third-party behavioural analytics. Optional account sync and purchase verification still process the information needed for those services. Read the Privacy Policy for details.

Pro, purchases & offers

Can one Pro purchase work on my other devices?

On Apple devices, use the purchasing Apple Account and Restore Purchases. For eligible sharing between Windows, iPhone/iPad and Android, connect to the same Deadline Desk account, finish sync review and explicitly link the purchase from its owning device. Then refresh Pro on the receiving device. A purchase can be linked to one existing Deadline Desk account at a time; deleting that account releases the link, not the underlying subscription. Mac has no cross-platform account-sharing controls.

Can I buy Pro without a Deadline Desk sign-in?

Yes. Apple and Google Play purchases belong to the purchasing store account. Windows Stripe purchases activate the current computer. A separate Deadline Desk account is needed only when you choose to connect devices and share an eligible purchase, not to unlock Pro locally.

How many Windows computers can use Stripe Pro?

The Stripe activation is for one Windows computer at a time. Restore using the Stripe purchase email to move activation; the previous Windows activation is deactivated. Connecting an account does not remove this rule. Purchase activation and task sync are separate.

Does cancelling remove my paid year immediately?

For a normal paid subscription, cancelling renewal generally keeps access until the paid expiry reported by the provider. Cancellation is not a refund. Trials and offers follow their displayed conditions. Apple recommends cancelling a trial at least 24 hours before it ends to avoid renewal. Specifically non-renewing free offers end automatically. See subscription terms and provider links.

Why does a TestFlight yearly subscription expire quickly?

TestFlight purchases use Apple’s Sandbox environment and accelerated renewal periods, even for yearly products. They are separate from real App Store purchases and do not grant live cross-platform Pro. Google Play test-card purchases can also have accelerated periods. A real card purchase is different from a test-card purchase; check the provider’s confirmation.

How do Apple promotional codes work?

Use the private redemption link supplied with your code, or the App Store’s Redeem Gift Card or Code option, while signed into the intended Apple Account. Review eligibility, duration and renewal terms before accepting. Each single-use code is redeemable once; its redemption deadline is separate from the duration of Pro after redemption. Some offers follow an introductory trial, while others start directly. Only an offer explicitly marked non-renewing ends without a renewal charge. Apple may ask for account or billing verification; do not assume every free offer is card-free.

How does Pro work in the Android beta?

Start free, then choose Pro if you want unlimited active deadlines and editable categories. Pro uses normal Google Play billing during the beta; the price and renewal terms appear before you confirm. Keep the same app and purchasing Google account when updating to the public release to retain your purchase.
